| Before contacting us for any information or help for Battery Doubler, please be sure to read the FAQ. If you didn't find your question in this FAQ, please send us an e-mail at techsupport@dachshundsoftware.com. Thanks! Last update: September 20, 2002 Q. Will Battery Doubler work with all batteries? [Back] The short answer is yes. Battery Doubler will work with all APM and ACPI batteries. However, a few batteries or a few laptops will not work well with Battery Doubler, but can find this out by running the Compare Autonomy wizard. Q. Will Battery Doubler damage my battery? [Back] No, it can't, because it doesn't act directly on the battery; it acts on computer components to save battery power. Your battery is not modified or even accessed by Battery Doubler. Q. Will my battery wear out faster if I use Battery Doubler? [Back] No, it won't. Battery Doubler doesn't stress your battery. Q. What is Turbo Charge? Do I need it? [Back] With Turbo Charge, your battery recharges faster when your computer is on - simply enable it and let Turbo Charge do the work. It simply switches the PC to a lower power mode (slower processor, etc.) in order to let more power for recharging the battery. It is not recommended to enable it permanently, since it slightly slows down the computer; simply enable it when you need to charge your battery faster, in an airport, for example. Q. The battery autonomy indicator says "Unknown". Now what? [Back] Battery Doubler can tell you in hours:minutes your battery's autonomy, but it needs to calculate it first. Once the Status window is opened, unplug AC power; the indicator will read "Calculating". Work on your computer as you would do normally, and after a few minutes, Battery Doubler will give you an estimate. The estimate will get more precise over time. Q. When do I need to run the Recalibration wizard? [Back] Battery Doubler features an automatic recalibration wizard - after some time, your battery's autonomy isn't indicated properly (for example, it stays stuck at 0% for 15 minutes). To avoid these problems, your battery must be recalibrated: totally discharged, then totally recharged. Generally, this is never done and it is why batteries tend to wear out. With Battery Doubler, simply run the recalibration wizard every month if you use your battery regurlarly, or every 3 months if you barely ever use it. That's all you have to do! Q. A question isn't answered here. Now what? [Back] Simply e-mail us at techsupport@dachshundsoftware.com. Thanks!
