Q. Is AntiCrash useful under Windows XP? [Back]

While it is true that Windows XP is more stable than older versions of Windows, it still crashes frequently enough to justify AntiCrash's installation. Additionally, just like any other system, a false setting, a corrupted file, or another minor problem can cause great problems. And, at some point, you'll have problems with your computer; the question is not if it will happen, but when it will happen. If AntiCrash is installed, you'll be sure to have an utility to rely on.

AntiCrash is more than an anti-crash tool coupled with AutoRepair, our unique technology to find & fix most computer problems with a single click. It also features a wizard to recover lost and damaged data, an anti-boot system for Yahoo Messenger, just to list a few functions. AntiCrash is more than a tool - it's an all-in-one suite integrated in a single program. All you need for the health of your computer is in AntiCrash.

Q. Is AntiCrash compatible with Windows 95? [Back]

Yes. AntiCrash is compatible with Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP.

Q. Most crash recovery tools have a tendency to crash the computer instead of fixing crashes. Is AntiCrash different? [Back]

Yes. Unlike other programs, which merely hook Windows' crash dialog box, AntiCrash is able to find out if a real crash occurred, and uses low-level techniques to recover a crashed program. It intercepts over 95.8% crashes, but it also has a near zero error margin.

Q. I have a server that crashes. What can I do to make sure that it will be maintained alive? [Back]

AntiCrash features a "Server Mode", which will automatically recover all crashed programs as well as reload them if they cannot be recovered. AntiCrash can maintain a Windows server for a virtually unlimited amount of time. You won't need to periodically reboot your server anymore!

Q. What is AutoRepair? [Back]

AutoRepair is a wizard integrated in AntiCrash, unique on the Windows market; it uses an Artificial Intelligence to find & fix most computer problems. All you have to do is click on a button and AutoRepair handles everything; scanning, automatic repairs, etc. AutoRepair is very fast and, with the Thorough Scan, can fully scan & repair a computer in 15 minutes.

Q. Do I need to run any other utility than AutoRepair? [Back]

The simple answer is no, AutoRepair handles everything - hard disk, Windows, registry, CPU, and more. The only utility you might like to use with AutoRepair is a hard disk defragmenter, which is the only repairs AutoRepair won't do.

Q. What kind of problems AutoRepair can find and repair? [Back]

AutoRepair comes with an Artificial Intelligence to find and repair problems; it has a database of over 1000 possible Windows problems & solutions. The AI combined with the database can fix thousands of errors, ranging from a hard disk error to an Internet setting problem.

Q. What happens if I don't run AutoRepair every month? [Back]

In short, nothing - but Windows will slowly degrade. Don't worry about forgetting to run AutoRepair: if you haven't used it for more than a month, it will automatically remind you to use it.

Q. Can AntiCrash intercept all crashes? [Back]

The short answer is yes. AntiCrash has an unprecedented crash interception of 95.8%, which is spectacular compared to any other anti-crash tool available for PC; 9 times out of 10, it will recover your crashed program! However, since computers are computers, it is simply impossible to design a software able to intercept 100% crashes. But with modern techniques, AntiCrash almost reaches this percentage.

Q. Can AntiCrash intercept freezes? [Back]

Generally AntiCrash can intercept total freezes, but generally they hide a serious problem. Try running AutoRepair, and also check your CPU - if it isn't ventilated enough, it will cause random freezes. It must be ventilated properly; some CPUs need two fans to be properly cooled.

Q. What happens when a program stops responding? [Back]

While AntiCrash intercepts all crashes automatically, frozen programs can't be unfrozen automatically. This is because sometimes, the program is just busy and AntiCrash might attempt to unfreeze a working program. It is up to you to unfreeze a program when it is really frozen, and for that, AntiCrash has several ways to access the Unfreeze program - you can launch it via AntiCrash or via a shortcut key, in case something doesn't allow you to use AntiCrash.

Q. One of my programs keeps displaying an error, but it doesn't crashes. Can AntiCrash do something for me? [Back]

Short answer: no. AntiCrash cannot fix "bugs". To avoid program crashing, some developers choose to implement what is called a safe exit: an error dialog box instead of a crash. But technically, nothing happens; the program just displays an error dialog box. If this kind of error occurs, you should e-mail the program's author for a fix.

Q. An program crashes and AntiCrash doesn't successfully recover it. Did I lose my data? [Back]

You didn't. When a program crashes, AntiCrash automatically backups the documents you are working on and places them in the Recovered Files. You can recover them via the Recovered Files wizard.

Q. A program stopped responding, but AntiCrash says that it is running. Why? [Back]

Sometimes, a program appears as being frozen and isn't. Give the program a few minutes to complete its task. Also, keep in mind that even if a program isn't listed as Frozen, you can ask AntiCrash to unfreeze or close it.

Q. AntiCrash keeps telling me that a program crashes. Is it normal? [Back]

Some programs are poorly written and they cause AntiCrash to continually think they are crashed. If this occurs, lower the Crash Reaction level (can be found in AntiCrash Options).

Q. When a crash occurs, sometimes Town Patrol fixes it and sometimes AntiCrash asks me if the crash must be recovered or not. Is it normal? [Back]

Yes. For maximum efficiency, AntiCrash has two ways of recovering crashes:

  • For minor crashes, Town Patrol will automatically fix your crash in the background, simply letting you know once it is fixed.
  • For more important crashes, AntiCrash gives you the choice to recover the crash (and advises you to do so if estimated recovery chances are high enough), and also to ignore the crash or close the crashed program without harming the system.

You'll have more information in AntiCrash's manual.

Q. Does AntiCrash has a speed impact on my system? [Back]

The short answer is no - AntiCrash uses less than 1% of CPU power.

Q. Is AntiCrash compatible with 16-bit programs? [Back]

Yes, and it can recover 16-bit crashes.

Q. Is AntiCrash compatible with DOS? [Back]

While DOS programs can be run without problem with AntiCrash, if a crash occurs, it won't be able to recover it.

Q. What is BootSafe? Why is it disabled by default? [Back]

BootSafe is a technology that forbids hackers to boot you from Yahoo Messenger chat rooms. It is disabled by default because it uses a little CPU and isn't fundamentally useful; if you use Yahoo Messenger, simply enable it via the BootSafe Options (on the Settings tab).

Q. A question isn't answered here. Now what? [Back]
